Christmas in Austria

Upon arrival in Munich, Germany you will be met by your local guide who will assist you in the transfer to your hotel in Brixen im thale, Austria.

Upon arrival you will gather with your fellow travellers to enjoy some festive cake with a cup of tea or coffee in the hotel. Followed by an afternoon at leisure to explore the beautiful surroundings. 

Today you will embark on a full day excursion around the scenic mountain region of Kaisergebirge, known for its unspoiled nature and abundant wildlife. The "Kaisergebirge" mountain range nature conservation area incorporates all of the summits of the Wilder (Wild) and Zahmer Kaiser (Tame Emperor) mountain ranges.

In the afternoon, continue your journey to the charming town of Kufstein, known as the Pearl of Tyrol. Here you will take a stroll around the town centre and visit the impressive Kufstein Fortress (entrance included). This fortress serves as a venue for a variety of events, including the annual Operetta Summer, and is home to the Heldenorgel, or 'Hero's Organ', the largest open-air organ in the world.

You will have a full day to relax and enjoy the charms of this region. Your guide will be happy to offer suggestions for activities and places to see in the surrounding area.

Alternatively why not book onto our optional excursion to Rattenberg & horse drawn sleigh ride. In the afternoon, you will travel to the nearby idyllic village of Münster to enjoy a horse drawn sleigh ride around this picturesque area of Tyrol.

This evening, you can attend the Christmas Holy Mass at the village’s local church to celebrate Austria’s Christmas Day (guide to advise on time locally). 

Following breakfast, embark on a morning excursion to the town of Hall, renowned in former times for printing coins. From there, continue your journey to Innsbruck where your guide will take you on a city tour through the fascinating late-medieval old town, including the Wilten Abbey Basilica and Ambras Castle. Innsbruck's most famous sight is the Golden Roof, slated with 2,657 fire-gilded copper shingles, and located in the heart of the historic district.

Roughly twenty minutes from Innsbruck is the small town of Watten, where you will stop for a visit to the enchanting Swarovski Crystal World. Discover its subterranean labyrinth of crystalline chambers and its marvellous new garden, the Crystal Cloud, which floats above a black Mirror Pool adorned with 800,000 hand-mounted Swarovski crystals.

This evening, enjoy a complimentary cocktail followed by a tasty Christmas buffet dinner with live music at your hotel to celebrate Christmas Day.

After breakfast, travel by coach to the baroque city of Salzburg. Enjoy a guided tour of the city's highlights including the beautiful Mirabell Gardens, the pedestrianized street Getreidegasse where Mozart was born, the UNESCO-listed old town and much more. In the afternoon you will have free time to explore or shop at your own leisure. Your local guide will be happy to offer suggestions of activities to suit your interests.

Your guide will assist with your transfer to the airport for your morning flight home.
