Join us to discover some of the top sights in Germany and Luxembourg as we sail along the Sarr and Moselle river. Before we set sail, our river cruise holiday will begin with a guided Cologne city tour and then we’ll board the MS Amadeus Brilliant. Our ship will transport us to some of the most beautiful towns in Europe renowned for cultural and historic gems such as Bernkastel and Saarlouis. Enjoy excursions led by local guides, including Cochem and Trier, plus have free time for some independent exploration. Our final point of call and last highlight of our holiday will be a city tour of Dusseldorf.

Travel to Germany
Cologne city tour
Upon arrival in Cologne, we will be met by our local guide who will assist us in the transfer to Cologne port with a guided Cologne city tour en-route. Here we can explore the surroundings of the famous Cathedral and the Old Town. In the narrow, cobbled streets of the old town and in the busy squares, such as the Old Market or the Hay Market, you will get a feeling for life in this city, both past and present.
Embark on your River Cruise
In the afternoon we will be transferred to our ship with assistance. Settle into your cabin and explore the range of facilities on board your ship has to offer as you set sail along the Moselle River. Sit back with a welcome cocktail in one of the lounge areas, followed by a tasty welcome dinner.

This morning, you will have some free time to enjoy the boat and take in the passing landscape as you sail down the Moselle, onto the town of Cochem where we will arrive in the early afternoon.
Cochem and visit to the Reichsburg
In the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley, where the river curves between two hiking paradises - Eifel and Hunsrück - lies the old town of Cochem. Today we discover this beautiful town on a guided excursion through its narrow streets and twisty alleys, the lovingly restored half-timbered houses with the typical slate roofs, the historical marketplace, medieval town gates, churches and walls. We will continue onto the magnificent Reichsburg Castle, situated on a precipitous rock high above the town, dominates the landscape.
Bernkastel
At Leisure
As we continue to sail down this beautiful river, we will arrive into Bernkastel-Kues this morning. We will have the morning at leisure here, take a stroll through the medieval market square and enjoy this charming town.
In the afternoon we depart Bernkastel enjoy an afternoon on board as sail down the Moselle and switch to the Saar River.
Saarburg
Uncover Saarburg
This morning, we will have joined the Saar River and arrive into the town of Saarburg, where we will enjoy the sights of this German town. As enjoy a walking tour, the highlight is a visit to Saarburg’s Little Venice, which offers beautiful views of the small bridges spanning from the Leukbach to the Buttermarkt. As we stroll through the old town, we will discover the colourful houses belonging to the local fishermen.
We will depart Saarburg in the afternoon and sail down the Saar towards Saarlouis.
Saarlouis
At Leisure
This morning, we will arrive at Saarlouis, named for Louis XIV of France it is the sixth largest city in Saarland region. We will have the morning at leisure to explore the most French city in Germany famous for the Saarland chocolate.
Grevenmacher
In the afternoon we set sail down the Saar towards Luxembourg where we will arrive into Grevenmacher on the Luxembourg Moselle in the late evening.
Grevenmacher & Trier
Grevenmacher
We will have the morning at leisure in Grevenmacher, we will have the option of strolling along this charming town or relax on your ship and get to enjoy all the amenities on board before we set sail towards Trier.
Discover Trier
This afternoon we will enjoy a guided walking tour of Germany’s oldest city. As we pass the Porta Nigra the large Roman city gate in Trier we will learn more about these beautiful Roman buildings such as the late-Romantic Three Kings' House from the 13th century, the medieval-style Main Market Square, St. Peter's Cathedral, and the Church of Our Lady.
Koblenz
At Leisure
This afternoon we will arrive in Koblenz which is one of the most beautiful and oldest towns in Germany, with over 2,000 years of history. Stroll around this charming town and discover the romantic streets between the St. Castor Basilica and the Liebfrauenkirche (the Church of our Beloved Lady) or visit to the Emperor Wilhelm Memorial at the famous German Corner and the town’s landmark, the Schängel Fountain at the Town Hall.
Captain's Gala Dinner
This evening, we will enjoy a Captain's Gala Dinner on board as we sail towards Cologne.
Dusseldorf & Return Home
Disembark and Dusseldorf City Tour
It is time to say goodbye after a full week of delights aboard the Amadeus ship. After breakfast, you will meet with your local guide and be transferred to Dusseldorf city centre for a guided tour prior to continuing your journey to Dusseldorf airport for your flight home. (Luggage will be stored in coach)
